Entry Level: Tooling & Automation Mechanical Design Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete 2D/3D design sales concepts for a variety of moderately complex to complex robotic, tooling, and automated systems
  • Support Sales and Estimating teams in development of new system concepts
  • Create quotes based on information provided by the customer
  • Work with all Eckhart locations to establish best practices company-wide in estimating
  • Engage our vendors to find best price scenarios for specific applications
  • Work concurrently on one or more projects
  • Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, communicate and document requisite information per established Eckhart policies and procedures
  • Understand customer needs, apply technical knowledge to identify process requirements, recommend and implement custom engineered solutions
  • Demonstrate Engineering professionalism in all activities and provide efficient service to customers

Qualifications:

  • Technically proficient with various 3D software programs·
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical principles, understanding of 3D models, layout drawings and engineering specifications
  • Must be able to apply engineering theories and related knowledge to design concepts for industrial ergonomic systems and automated tooling
  • Must be able to successfully communicate with internal and external customers who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
  • Must possess planning and organizational skills
  • Must possess exceptional attention to detail in all attributes of a project
  • Must be able to take direction and effectively complete tasks in a high-pressure environment

Education and/or Experience:

Requires an Associate degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or a related field, and at least three years of related experience. Prefer a four-year degree in design, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, and at least one year of related experience. Requires at least one year of mechanical 3D solid modeling experience and proficiency in one or all of the following: NX, Solidworks, Catia, Creo, and AutoCAD. Must have basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office.
